How to Setup a POSaBIT Menu on Wordpress
In order to allow you to host the POSaBIT ecommerce menu directly on your website's primary domain, POSaBIT has built out a WordPress plugin. With this plugin, your POSaBIT-hosted menu will have the same primary domain as the rest of your website. This will help drive up the SEO (Search Engine Optimization) for your website therefore driving more traffic to your site.
The following article walks you through how to set up your POSaBIT menu within your WordPress site:
Step 1: Update your Menu feed configurations
- Log in to the POSaBIT POS Portal (app.posabit.com)
- Select "Inventory" -> "Menu Feeds" from the top menu navigation bar
- If you have multiple menu feeds created, locate the one you would like to configure for WordPress and select "Edit".If you have not created a menu feed yet, follow the instructions HERE to do so.
- From the menu feed edit page, click on the blue "Edit" button found at the bottom of the top module box (right next to the green "Publish" button.
- Next, locate the dropdown field titled "Menu Type" and set it to "WordPress Plugin".
- Once you have selected "WordPress Plugin" for the menu type, a new field will appear titled "WordPress URL".
- Within the "WordPress URL" field, enter the URL you would like to host the POSaBIT menu within your website.
- For example, if your website's base URL is "www.example.com" then your menu URL could be "www.example.com/menu"Additionally, take note of the "Ecommerce URL" set on this page, as you will need this later in the setup process.
- For example, if your website's base URL is "www.example.com" then your menu URL could be "www.example.com/menu"
- Once you have set the WordPress URL, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select the green "Save" button.
Step 2: Download/Install WordPress Plugin
- Click HERE to download the POSaBIT Menu WordPress Plugin. (https://app.posabit.com/pb/ecomm_wordpress_download)
- Once downloaded, head to https://wordpress.com/ and log in to the account associated with your domain.
- After logging in, select "Plugins" -> "Add New Plugin" -> "Upload Plugin".
- Next, upload & install the POSaBIT Menu Plugin you downloaded in step 1.
- After the install is complete, select "Settings" -> "POSaBIT Menu Settings".
- Within the "POSaBIT Menu Settings", enter the "E-commerce URL" & the "Base Name" where you want your menu displayed."E-commerce URL" is the POSaBIT-hosted URL. This can be found within your menu feed settings within your POSaBIT POS portal (app.posabit.com)"Base Name" is the URL path you added onto the end of your normal URL when you set the "WordPress URL" within the POSaBIT POS portal. For example, if you set "www.example.com/menu" as the WordPress URL within the POSaBIT POS portal, then "/menu" would be your base name.
- Lastly, hit "Save Changes".
Step 3: Add POSaBIT Shortcode to Your WordPress Page
The final step required to set up a POSaBIT menu on WordPress is adding a POSaBIT shortcode to the specific page you want the menu to display.
- First, navigate back to the WordPress home page for your site.
- Next, select "Pages" -> "All Pages"
- Locate the existing page you would like to display the POSaBIT Menu on OR select "Add Page" to setup a new page.
- From the page edit screen, click on the preview of the webpage to add a new "Block"
- Next, within this block, paste in the following shortcode [posabit_menu]
- Finally, press "Save" in the top right-hand corner.
