How to Set up a SIM Card in a PAX A920
The POSaBIT team will do this whole process upon onboarding (if your payments are getting onboarded as a portable device - normally for delivery or curbside), however, you might decide to add the sim card later on in order to have a portable terminal for curbside or delivery orders.
Installing the SIM card into the device:
- Power off your PAX A920
- Flip over and take off the battery pack cover
- Remove the battery from the device
- Under the battery, there is a spot for a SIM card to go. Place your SIM card in here with the metal strip facing down.
- Place the battery back in the divide and put the cover back on. Turn the device back on and the PAX loading screen will be shown as the device reboots.
- After the device turns back on, there should be a popup on the screen that looks like the image below. Select Set and you will be brought into the SIM card settings.
- From this screen, make sure the SIM slot 1 is turned on if it wasn't already. Click the "o" button at the bottom of the screen to go back to the home screen.
- To ensure you are connected to the cellular SIM card, swipe down from the top of the screen twice. There will be a triangle that displays "No Service." Wait until this displays your carrier's info and click on that icon.
- A new page will pop up and turn on the Cellular Data option on the top right. This page will also display some other information based on the SIM card and service provider you use. Click Done at the bottom of the screen to exit this page.
- You should now see the cell service icon on the top of the screen. This is how you know you have properly set up your SIM card.
