What Are AI Connectors?

AI Connectors let you ask your own POSaBIT data questions in plain English, using the AI assistant you already use, such as Claude or ChatGPT. Ask it the way you would ask an analyst: which brands sold best this month, what is about to run out, or when your store is busiest. There is no dashboard to configure, no export, and no new app to learn.

How It Works

  • You connect your AI assistant to your POSaBIT account from the AI Connectors page in the POSaBIT web portal. The page is available in the store, Merchant Portal, and Brand Portal views.
  • Your assistant is given a fixed set of read-only tools, each one matching a page or report you already have in the portal.
  • When you ask a question, the assistant uses those tools to pull the data it needs and answers in plain English, often with tables or charts.

Built-In Protections

Protection

What It Means

Read-only

The assistant cannot create, edit, or delete anything in POSaBIT.

One account per connector

Each connector reads one venue, one merchant, or one brand, chosen when you connect. It cannot reach any other account.

Your permissions, not more

The assistant can only see what you can already see in the portal. If your access changes, your assistant's access changes on its next request.

No password sharing

You sign in on POSaBIT's own login page. Your assistant never sees or stores your POSaBIT password.

Sensitive data excluded

Customer names, contact details, and demographics, card data, and employee contact details and PINs are never shared.

What Your Assistant Can Read

Store connectors (one retail location):

  • Sales: daily summary, sales by item, by hour, by employee, and by payment method, plus taxes and discounts.
  • Inventory: stock on hand, lots and lot age, weekly turnover, audits, and cash drawers.
  • Catalog: products, product types, brands, and strains.
  • Supply: deliveries, supplier catalogs, reorder status, and purchase orders.
  • People: staff list (name and work status only) and the sales-by-employee report.

Merchant connectors (the stores under one merchant account):

  • Sales, inventory, catalog, and supplier data across the stores under your merchant, so you can compare locations in a single chat.
  • What a merchant connector can read follows your Merchant Portal employee groups: the built-in Managers or Staff group, or any custom group your merchant has created. If you belong to more than one group, your access adds together.
  • To connect at the merchant level, your Merchant Role must give you Merchant Portal access. Employees set to No Merchant Access can't create a merchant connector.

Brand connectors (one brand, across the stores it supplies):

  • Sell-through: sales of your products in the stores you sell to, by item and by discount.
  • Stock at retail: inventory and lots sitting in those stores.
  • Retailers: the store list and details for each.
  • Supply: deliveries and purchase orders.
  • Catalog: your own products, brands, strains, and types.

Requirements

  • A POSaBIT web portal login with access to the store, merchant, or brand you want to connect.
  • An AI assistant that supports custom connectors (MCP), such as Claude or ChatGPT. Your assistant subscription is billed by its provider, not by POSaBIT.
