How do I merge duplicate customer profiles?

In the case where a duplicate customer profile was accidentally created, you can easily merge the two loyalty accounts so the customer doesn’t miss out on any of their earned loyalty points. This could also be needed if you have consumer accounts on your menu and the profiles don't link correctly or if any information is different between their menu profile and their in-store profile.

How to Enable Merging Profiles on the POS

  1. Log in to the POS Portal
  2. Go to the Customer Profile Settings tab
  3. Enable the flag labeled Enabled Profile Merging on the Point of Sale
  4. Once enabled, you will now have the ability to merge customer profiles from the POS. See the next section to learn how this works on the POS.

How to Merge Customer Profiles through the POS

  1. Log in to the POS
  2. Open a cart for the customer profile you would like to merge into another.
  3. There are two ways to merge profiles. See below to learn both:
    1. Option 1: From the customer cart, click the Order Actions dropdown in the top right corner. Click Merge Profiles. Continue to step 4.
    2. Option 2: From the customer cart, click the edit profile icon on the right side. From the edit profile page, click the Merge Profile button in the top right corner. Continue to step 4.
  4. Search the profile you would like the current profile to merge into. Note: the profile you pulled up first will be merged into the one you search here.
  5. Once you locate and select the profile you want to merge, you will see a pop-up showing the two profiles. The profile on top will be merged into the profile on the bottom. For example, the phone number on the top profile will no longer be used, but will be replaced by the phone number on the bottom profile.
  6. Click Merge Profiles to finalize the merge.
  7. The customers' profiles should now be merged.

Notice: The points of both profiles will be combined upon merging. This is true for merging on the POS and within the Portal.

How to Merge Customer Profiles through the Portal

  1. To do this, first locate the customer account that you would like to keep within the “Customers” page.
  2. Once you have located the customer's account, click on their name to pull up the customer's profile within the portal.
  3. Next, copy/write down the ID number found at the top of the data on the left-hand side of the page.
  4. After you have copied the ID, navigate back to the customer's page and search for the duplicate that you would like to merge over.
  5. Locate the duplicate customer, then press the green “Edit” button on the corresponding row within the table.
  6. Finally, scroll all the way down until you find the field “Inheritor Customer ID” within the “Merge Into” section.
  7. Enter the copied customer ID from the customer account you would like to keep and press “Save”. This will then delete that customer and move all data over to the customer account ID that you entered into the “Inheritor Customer ID” field, including loyalty points.
