Transitioning from Venue Discounts to Merchant-Level Discounts
In the October POS Server update, we introduced merchant-level discounts, accompanied by additional tools designed to simplify the process of transitioning from venue-level discounts to merchant-level discounts, particularly for businesses with multiple locations. In the following guide, I'll provide a step-by-step walkthrough of the most effective approach for making this transition and also explain how to deactivate venue discounts that are no longer necessary. Converting a Venue Discount into a Merchant-Level DiscountBefore you begin, please note that you must have merchant-level access to perform this transition.
- Access the POSaBIT POS Portal: Start by logging into the POSaBIT POS Portal and navigate to the merchant-level portal.
- Navigate to the Marketing Tab and Select Discounts: Once you're in the merchant-level portal, go to the Marketing tab and click on "Discounts."
- Differentiate Between Venue and Merchant Discounts: On this page, you will see a clear distinction between Venue and Merchant discounts. You may need to adjust the filters to display both types of discounts. To convert a venue discount into a merchant-level discount, locate the discount you want to transition and click the blue "Dup" button on the right side of its row.
- Duplicating the Discount: Clicking the "Dup" button will take you to a new discount page, where all the fields from the venue discount are duplicated. The name of the discount will include "(merchant copy)." You have the flexibility to make any necessary adjustments and exclude specific venues from this discount.
- Save Your Changes: After making any modifications, click Save. You will be directed back to the page displaying all your discounts, now including the newly converted merchant-level discount.
- Access the Discounts Page: To deactivate venue discounts that are no longer needed, go to the Discounts page within the merchant portal.
- Select Discounts to Deactivate: Simply check the boxes next to all the discounts you wish to deactivate.
- Deactivate Selected Discounts: Once you've selected all the discounts you want to deactivate, locate the orange/yellow "Deactivate Checked" button at the top right corner of the discounts page. Click this button to deactivate the selected discounts.
