How to offer a discount on online and app orders

You can create discounts that apply only to orders placed through a certain kind of client, such as your mobile app or your website menu. For example:

• 10% off all mobile app orders
• A deal only for orders placed on your website menu

These discounts work by matching the client type a third party sends with each order.

Before you start

Client type discounts only work when:

• The third party sends a client type. Each third-party menu or app must send a client_type with every order through the POSaBIT Venue API v3. Ask your partner to confirm they’re sending it, and share the Incoming Orders documentation with them. Orders without a client type won’t match these discounts.
• Every POS terminal is on version 790 or higher. Older terminals won’t apply the discount correctly.

Create the discount

1. In the portal, go to Marketing > Discounts and click New Discount (or edit an existing discount).
2. Set up the discount as usual: name, amount, products and schedule.
3. Under Any Client Type, choose the client types the discount applies to.
4. Save.
